There are two possible approaches from Estables, but the most frequented and best signposted is the Croix de Boutières path. At the summit an immense panorama opens up to you: to the north, the Meygal massif and the Forez Mountains; to the west, the Bassin du Puy, the Velay and the Auvergne Mountains; to the south, the Lac d'Issarlès and a horizon full of sucs; and to the east, the gorges of La Saliouse and L'Eysse, which dig into Boutières territory towards the Haut-Eyrieux. Beyond that there lie the Alps, whose tallest peaks can just be made out on a fine day.
