The southernmost town in Corsica and occupying a magnificent location, Bonifacio is one of the highlights of the island, despite the crowds and souvenir shops that line its narrow streets. Surrounded by fortifications, the old town perches on a narrow limestone promontory sculpted by the sea and the wind, overlooking a 1 500m-long cove with a marina at its tip. Once a safe haven for warships, the port is now an attractive harbour for yachts.
