Batz-sur-Mer : Michelin's recommendations

Between salt marshes and the ocean rises Batz’s tall bell tower. The rocky coast is punctuated by sandy beaches: Valentin, La Govelle (surfing) and St-Michel, a little beach where on stormy days the waves may be observed smashing against the sea wall. The church of St Guénolé is striking for its severe tower (1677), from which (182 steps) there is a vast coastal panorama from St Gildas point south of the Loire to the Rhuys peninsula to the north, taking in Belle-Île and Noirmoutier.
