Bécherel : Michelin's recommendations

France’s premier book town, Bécherel has a host of bookshops and related businesses. This ancient fortified settlement sited on a rocky promontory overlooking the Rance Valley retains numerous old granite houses (reminders of its rich history as a flax centre) lining evocatively named streets. There are several interesting castles nearby, including Montmuran, where in 1354 Du Guesclin was knighted.
