Cathédrale Saint-Samson Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

This huge Gothic-style edifice which bears the name of the first bishop of Dol-de-Bretagne, was built in the 12C and 13C but additional ongoing work was not completed until the 16C. On the outside of the building, on the south side, you will notice the large porch (14C) as well as the small porch (13C). Go to the choir to see the restored stained-glass window with its 13C medallions, the 80 stalls (14C) and the episcopal throne (16C) made out of sculpted wood. In the left arm of the transept have a look at the tomb of Bishop Thomas James, governor of the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, which was made by Florentine sculptors in the 16C.
