Guérande Travel guide
Guérande : Michelin's recommendations
Not far from the busy summer resort of La Baule, Guérande has the authentic charm of a medieval fortified town. Dominating the surrounding salt marshes, this little place is effectively encircled by its ramparts. The main entrance is the massive St Michel gate, housing the Pays de Guérande museum. Visit the collegiate church of St Aubin to see its capitals with grotesque carvings, and explore the 2 000ha of salt marshes to understand the salt extraction process.
