This village is famous for its magnificent basilica of Notre Dame. Its well-known pardon (or pilgrimage) is one of the most important in Britanny. Thousands throng to it every year. The name of Folgöet (“wood of the Fol”) recalls the story of this foundation. In the Middle Ages, a man by the name of Saläun lived in a wood near to a spring. He only knew one sentence - Itron Gwerc'hez Vari (“Holy Virgin Mary”). After his death, a lily drew “Ave Maria” in golden letters on his tomb.
