Built in 1957 at the Augustin-Normand dockyard in Le Havre, the Espadon (Swordfish) was the first French submarine to navigate beneath the polar ice. A tour of its narrow passageways provides an insight into the underwater world of the 70 sailors who worked on board the vessel.
