It used to lead to the gateway of the same name, partially destroyed in 1846. The street has a number of timber-framed houses. Note the Hôtel du Bold'Or (1513) whose staircase tower, flanked with a square pavilion, has a strange top. Rue Sévigné, where the famous Marchioness once lived, adjoins Rue d'en-Bas.
