Located on the banks of the Cuisance River, the house contains many of Pasteur's personal souvenirs, including family portraits and a picture of Jean-Baptiste Jupille, the shepherd from the Jura who was famously saved by Pasteur's anti-rabies treatment. On the first floor are two drawings of Pasteur as a young man. In his bedroom, the pen-holder, inkpot and blotter stand on the desk; the familiar hat is also there. Instruments and apparatus can be seen in the laboratory, along with culture mediums that refer to his experiments on the theory of spontaneous generation.
