Founded in the 6C by Clothilde, this abbey is the city’s most venerable monument. The 12C steeple, now free-standing after the demolition of part of the fabric, is remarkable. The 9C crypt has some Carolingian frescoes (c 850, the earliest in France) depicting bishops of Auxerre.
