Standing proud in this square you will find the fountain honouring Cadet Roussel. This character of the famous French song is believed to be inspires from the misadventures of William Roussel, a huissier from Auxerre (1743-1807), which are remembered in a plaque fixed under the arch of a passage which leads to the Clock-tower.
