A coal-mining town, on the banks of the Centre Canal. The coal mines, opened in 1860, were joined by numerous other industries: plastics, plumbing accessories, pipes, construction materials and tyres. Blanzy is now part of the Creusot-Montceau-les-Mines urban complex.

The pit has been refitted in the old style: lamp-room and working machinery room (used to raise and lower the lift cages and pump water from the bottom of the mine). A tour of 200m of galleries conducted by experts - former miners.
