Cluny Abbey Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
Primarily built between 1088 and 1130, the church of St Peter and St Paul was sacked during the Revolution, demolished and sold off stone by stone. What had been the largest church in Christendom is now but a few meagre fragments. What remains, notably the Eau-Bénite bell tower, gives an idea of the extent and the richness of this jewel of Christianity, and its influence upon the religious, intellectual, political and artisitic life of Western society.
