This 15C dwelling is in the former abbey palace. Built by Jean de Bourbon, 42nd abbot of Cluny, it is contemporary of the Parisian mansion of the same name. The museum displays abbey remains found during excavation work. You can see scale models or a few architectural elements from Clunisian houses... Two superimposed ornamental pavements found there are representative of techniques used in the late Middle Ages. The library contains over 4,500 books, including precious early printed books.
