Under the porchway, crowned by a small open-work gallery, the framework of the old Romanesque doorway has been preserved in the Gothic façade. The sober lines of the interior make it quite austere. The Romanesque crypt reveals part of the transept crowned with four apsidioles. In a recess are the remains of the sarcophagus of St Bénigne, the first Burgundy martyr, opposite a large opening giving onto the lower floor of the rotonda whose architecture resembles Christ's tomb in Jerusalem.
