This was the last large building built in Dole before it was annexed to France. The austerity of the building is alleviated by fanciful ornamentation (note the remarkable sculpted balcony running around part of the building). The interior courtyard is laid out like cloisters with two storeys of galleries linked by a tower staircase. Since 2000, the building has housed a media resource centre.
