Ornans
: Michelin's recommendations
The “little Venice of the Franche-Comté”, Ornans is the capital and major attraction of the Loue valley. It owes its success to one of the region’s most beautiful rivers, which attracted many painters, in particular Courbet. Its double row of old houses on stilts, its bridges and superb reflections have all enhanced its reputation. While awaiting the reopening of the Musée Gustave-Courbet (closed for renovation), visit the church, which houses a superb bust of Christ attributed to Bernini.
