The Great Bull is the summit, 1,323 metres high, of Mount Larmont. The view stretches across the Pontarlier and the plateaux of the Jura.

The Knight of Arçon drew up the plans for this gate. The upper part with its belltower was added in the 19C. The gate celebrates the rebuilding of the town in 1771 after the fire of the 31st August.
