Église St-Bénigne : Michelin's recommendations

This church (17C) was damaged in the 1736 fire. This explains the postiche façade, which was an attempt to fit in with the new square. The bell tower-porch is an imitation of those of mountain churches, which had to be protected against the snow. Inside: two paintings (Christ Surrounded by Angels and The Lactation of Saint Bernard), a statue of the Black Madonna of Einsiedeln (much loved in the Haut Doubs) and superb 1975 stained-glass windows by Alfred Manessier, on the subject of the pastoral symphony.
