Bibendum
This château on the banks of the River Armançon is one of Burgundy's finest. It was built in 1546 by Sebastiano Serlio for Antoine III de Poitiers, Dauphiné's governor and husband of Anne-Françoise de Poitiers. This Italian architect brought to the court of François I the principles of Renaissance architecture. Note the sumptuous 16C mural decoration, the trompe-l'oeil work in the Chapelle Ste-Cécile and the paintings by Nicolò dell'Abate adorning the Galerie de Pharsale.
