The appeal of this château, which is a stone's throw from the Burgundy Canal and is surrounded by moats, lies not only in its rich architectural exterior, but also in the quality of its interior decoration and furnished apartments. Built around 1550, it is a magnificent example of French Renaissance architecture at a time when it had broken away from the Italian influence which can, however, still be seen in some of the interior decorative elements, such as the trompe l'oeil frescoes in the Great Gallery.
