Briare Canal Bridge Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
Built at the same time as the Eiffel Tower, this 1890 bridge allows a canal running lateral to the Loire to cross it and join the Briare canal. The metallic structure containing the canal is made up of plates held together by millions of rivets. It is 662m long, 11m wide (including the tow paths) and rests on 15 masonry piers built by the Eiffel company. It has a draught of 2.2m. Steps lead down to the level of the Loire, from where it is possible to admire this wonderful feat of engineering.
