Dreux : Michelin's recommendations
Dreux, hemmed in by the Île de France and by Normandy, is a lively regional market town for various industries. The Orléans family chose to be buried there in the 19C in the Royal Chapel. Its tombs and recumbent figures form a Museum of 19C sculpture. The inhabitants of Dreux are extremely proud of their superb belfry and of one of their compatriots François-André Philidor (1726-1795): the musician who was the first professional chess player well before Gary Kasparov.
