Montargis : Michelin's recommendations

An area for hunting and fishing, known as the “Venice of Gâtinais”. The comparison may be somewhat optimistic, although there are several canals running through the town and the peaceful banks of the Briare Canal are a pleasant place for a stroll. With the ruins of its old castle, a museum dedicated to local painter Anne-Louis Girodet, its wash houses and renovated Tanners’ quarter, the town (famous for its pralines) has much to offer visitors.
