Dedicated to local artist Anne-Louis Girodet, a favourite pupil of David, one of the giants of neo-Classical painting. In the Girodet collection are 20 paintings by the artist including a copy of the Funeral of Atala, which inspired Chateaubriand’s famous novel. Drawings are shown in rotation. Note the gallery of paintings (Penitent Saint Jerome by Zurbaran), and terracottas by the sculptor Henri de Triqueti, the creator of the Madeleine Gates in Paris.
