At the foot of the Château d’Apremont nestles one of the prettiest villages in France, whose quarries once supplied stone to great religious building projects like the construction of the cathedral at Orléans. In 1930, Creusot forge owner Eugène Schneider undertook an extraordinary renovation project here, since when this picturesque village of half-timbered houses with tiled roofs has never looked back.
