Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne
: Michelin's recommendations
Nicknamed the «Limousine Riviera», this pleasant town combines natural attractions with Romanesque architecture. Built on the banks of the Dordogne, Beaulieu is famous for its church, all that remains of the old Benedictine monastery. In 855, charmed by the place, Raoul Archbishop of Bourges decided to name it Bellus locus (beau lieu - beautiful place). At the same time he founded an abbey which flourished until the Revolution.
