Cathedral of St Étienne Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
A Gothic masterpiece begun in 1195 and consecrated in 1324; the immense west front has 5 portals (the central of which depicts the Last Judgement), leading into a nave and four aisles. The windows (12C-17C) are among France's finest, and the crypt is superb. A copy of the 1424 astronomical clock was installed in 1994. 396 steps lead to the top of the north tower, from where there is a fine view over the cathedral and the town. Acquired Unesco World Heritage site status in 1992.

    Pros
