Pech-Merle caves
Pech-Merle caves
: Michelin's recommendations
Discovered in the early 20C by two teenagers, Pech-Merle caves have been described as “an art gallery within a natural palace”. The caves have been open to the public since 1926 and are a listed historic monument. Follow a 2km circuit to discover magnificent wall paintings, including the famous “negative hand” (Mammoth chamber, the prehistoric room), limestone concretions (Disques room, the Bear gallery and the Cavern pearls) and bones of bears (Combel chamber).
