Domme Travel guide
Domme : Michelin's recommendations
Perched on the top of a cliff, this unusual place is known as the «Périgord Acropolis». Established in 1283 by Philippe le Hardi (the Bold) to watch over the Dordogne valley, Domme obtained the privilege of striking its own coins. In 1588 it was seized by a Protestant Captain, Geoffroi de Vivans, who left behind bitter memories. The settlement recovered its beauty and prosperity in the 17th Century, thanks to flourishing trading activities.
