Contrary to traditional walled towns, most of which have a rectangular layout, the one of the Domme has a layout in the form of a trapeze which adapts to the natural and abrupt site of the city. The small streets of the town are consistent with the geometrical layout, and the town is encircled by the ramparts which faithfully follow the edge of the cliff. The walk inside the ramparts begins at the Porte del Bos.
