Rocamadour is many things at once: a miraculous rock, a historic site, a place of legends and beliefs, a home to the sanctuary of the Black Madonna, and a place of pilgrimage. It occupies a truly breathtaking site, where old houses, towers and oratories seem to cascade down the sheer cliff, towering 150m above the Alzou canyon, crowned by the slender keep of the castle and the seven sanctuaries.
