Saint-Cirq-Lapopie : Michelin's recommendations
Standing 80m above the Lot valley, this admirable hilltop village is dominated by a mighty castle built in the Middle Ages by the lords of La Popie. The strategic position of this site has often made it a scene of conflict. St-Cirq-Lapopie owes its fame to its corporation of wood-turners who, from the Middle Ages to the 19C, were partly responsible for the village's economic prosperity. Today its streets and alleys have tremendous charm.
