Undouubtedly one of the most beautiful villages of the Périgord Noir, with stone-tiled houses constructed from golden limestone, ruined Romanesque keep and 15C château abutting the church (entered through its 16C fortified bell tower). The little Gothic structure of the Chapelle du Cheylard (sited on a mound behind the post office) has fine 14C frescoes depicting the Life of Christ and popular saints. Note the roof eaves’ arched cornicing, resting on supports sculpted in the form of human heads.
