Souillac : Michelin's recommendations
The eastern gateway to black Périgord, the town of Souillac has an exceptional artistic and gastronomic heritage. In the Middle Ages, Benedictine monks dried out a marsh and built an abbey that was later destroyed on several occasions. It was rebuilt in the 17C and was used for storing tobacco at the time of the Revolution. The town now has an abundance of shops selling foie gras, walnut wine and Cahors wine which are an essential part of its attractions.
