The Château de Castelnaud, a genuine medieval fortress complete with machicolated keep, surrounding wall and main building, offers a panoramic view over the Céou and Dordogne valleys. The English, who owned it for a time, were driven out by Charles VII in 1442. It is home to a medieval war museum with a collection of interesting exhibits including replica war machines like a trebuchet, which recreate the turbulent atmosphere of the past.
