Erected in 1489 by François de Caumont to please his strong-willed wife, the castle was built in Italian style and considerably remodelled in neo-Gothic style during the 19C. The estate, towering above the Dordogne, is sumptuous. The interior decoration was redesigned by one of its last owners, Josephine Baker. A well-researched exhibition illustrates her career. Do not miss the park and garden, where falconry demonstrations are staged.
