The Phosphatières du Cloup d’Aural tour begins with a presentation of today’s plant environment, followed by information on how karst is formed and mined. It then moves from geology to climatology, explaining how this was first the site of a tropical forest then of a savannah. Lastly, it goes back in time by introducing visitors to fossils from different periods inside the mine. Various trails and paths deal with palaeontology, botany and the evolution of life on Earth and of the world’s climate.
