This 60m/197ft long, 20m/66ft wide and 43m/141ft high 14C fortified church looks very imposing indeed. Its design (crenellated bartizan, high, almost blind east-end walls, towers linked by watch-paths on either side of the west front) conveys an austere and severe impression. Digs carried out on the south side of the church, revealed remains of an Augustinian monastery destroyed during the Wars of Religion.
