In a verdant landscape of wooded hills, this artificial lake covers 1 000ha, the result of the construction of the Vassiviere Dam on the River Maulde. Each year this is the venue for major sailing events, and one of its islands (bridged access on foot or by little train) is home to the International Centre for Art and Landscape and a sculpture garden exhibiting contemporary works.
