Fountain of the Elephants : Michelin's recommendations

This monument, the most popular in the town, was erected in 1838 in memory of the General Comte de Boigne (1751-1830). The elephants without their hind quarters for the great benefit of Chambery humour, recall the adventures of the Chambery inhabitant who came back from the Indies fabulously rich and endowed with the title of General; Napoleon appointed him President of the Department of Mont Blanc, Louis XVIII, aide-de-camp, and the King of Sardinia, Comte
