Built in 1896, it was the second creation of Auguste Lumière, the father of the inventor of the cinematograph, after the château du Clos in La Ciotat. A painting of the caryatids by the Lyon artist, Devaux, whose inspiration was taken from Pierre Puget's atlantes. There is a superb main staircase seemingly being attacked by an enraged lion.
