Fréjus est née de son port, autour duquel se développa le Forum Julii des Romains... mais la mer s'est éloignée. Il a fallu attendre 1989 pour que la cité la retrouve avec l'aménagement de Port-Fréjus, à l'aspect curieusement romain.
