It is not known why she fell out with her brother Napoleon on that particular occasion, but the sulking Pauline decided to spend the winter of 1807-08 in Grasse. She is said to have been particularly fond of a grove of holm oaks that has since become this huge ornamental garden with extensive views as far as the Estérel mountains.
