The name Juan-les-Pins is inextricably linked to jazz. The town became a centre for jazz music in the 1920s when the first American tourists arrived here. Sydney Bechet subsequently established the festival in 1959. From the pine forest where the festival is held, it’s just a short walk to a delightful 3km-long sandy beach. The seafront promenade au Soleil is reminiscent of the Croisette in Cannes.
