As you enter St-Jacques church, note the carved panels of the Gothic doorway. Also of interest is the high altar with the retable by Nice artist Louis Bréa (1475-1523), with 14 scenes depicting 12 saints painted on a gold background. Lastly, admire the gallery and the striking 15C painting on wood. Entitled Danse Macabre, it depicts 10 men and women dancing while death, holding time’s arrows, sets to work. Also noteworthy is the Roman tombstone built into the foot of the bell tower.
