Perched high up in a bleak mountainous location overlooking the River Vionène and the River Tinée, Roure has a sleepy appearance. Its walls, slate roofs, alleys which become paths running alongside gardens, and its canals give it plenty of character. The church has a 16C reredos dedicated to St Lawrence (in red and green hues on a gold background). Among fields, the chapel of St Bernard and St Sebastian has fine frescoes by Andrea de Cella.
