Tucked into a bend in the River Tinée, St-Sauveur is characteristic of the villages of this valley, a network of winding little streets bordered by tall canopied houses. The church has a fine reredos by Guillaume Planeta (1483). Behind a wrought-iron grille, the Chapelle St Joseph has a picture of the Marriage of St Catherine (note in the background a depiction of the village of St-Sauveur). On leaving the village, the road leads to the stark rocky landscape of the Valabres Gorge.
