From the Hyères to St Raphaël, emerald-green vegetation reaches between the sea and the Gapeau and Argens valleys. Numerous resorts line the coast, affording additional viewpoints and charming landscapes; the Corniche des Maures is a magnificent road for touring and taking these in. The interior was long isolated and remains wild. It is home to interesting sites such as the village of Grimaud, Verne Monastery and the villages of Collobrières and Bormes-les-Mimosas.
